What is a radio fence?

A radio fence (often called an electric or electronic dog or cat fence), is a system where a cable's run around your property.

Your dog or cat wears a special receiver collar that detects this cable and gives them a warning sound followed by a very mild static sensation when they get even closer.

It can be left at sound only if you wish to using positive encouragement training.

This technique can be used where there is no strong drive.

You might just be trying to stop your dog from trampling over your flower beds.

You can then set to a level where the dog will just behave like a flea has annoyed it.

This relationship is patiently developed, tailored to your pet and the situation you face.

If farmer Giles (If he hasn't had to sell his land thanks to the Labour budget), has said "You're dogs going to get two barrels" after chasing his sheep, you might need to increase the stimulation!

With the relationship being understood, they are then free to roam and enjoy your garden, giving you the freedom to enjoy the day, not worrying about them escaping onto the road or farmers fields.

No more expensive fences being blown down in the wind or rotting!

Installed properly, these systems can easily last a lifetime.

Most of the time it's buried with a machine underground, making it invisible too!

What are the three top brands of kit?

There a quite a few brands of kit when you look online and it can come across as a bit of a minefield.

Some of the brands are very crude, some far too strong in stimulas.

They are also quite bulky, large in size and heavy in weight.

For this reason, I'll discuss the 3 established brands of these systems in the UK. (and probably worldwide).

These three are in a different league compared to anything else I've ever got my hands on.

They ALL have the same features such as the levels of stimulation (Apart from Petsafe's stubborn receiver collar). Audible warning, anti-linger features and a feature that switches off the reciever collar if the Pet gets stuck inside the activation zone.

They are governed by features developed by experts.

The 3 brands are as Follows:

Petsafe - (This is what Freedom Fence use)

Invisible Fence - Invisible Fence Brand UK

Dogwatch - (This is what Dogfence / Catfence use)

How do they compare in real life?

Most people, especially cat owners, want the smallest most lightweight receiver collar.

Here are side by side comparisons of the things that matter to your pet.

Weight: (Inc batteries and probes)
